The Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12) have long been taken as a series of promises made to those who follow Christianity. In a new appraisal, Edward Schuldt approaches the Beatitudes as a statement of an archetypal path of love open to every human being of any faith. In this presentation, Edward will outline the qualities associated with each Beatitude and invite participants to share how those qualities are fostered within their own traditions, both orally and in the written word—thereby showing how the multitude of religions and inner traditions, each in their own way, support humanity in the same inner journey of developing love and reconnecting with the divine.
About our Speaker
Edward Schuldt is a writer and speaker based in St. Louis, Missouri. He is now largely retired after careers in social work and non-profit administration.
Edward’s exploration of the Beatitudes over the last fifteen years marks a major development in his lifelong inner work. He has also conducted courses and workshops on Wolfram von Eschenbach’s Parzival and the quest for the Grail, the Greek star myths, Gilgamesh, and other topics.
Edward’s writing, fiction and non-fiction, addresses the relationship of everyday life to the spiritual world. He looks forward to the time when his two grandsons, whose current preoccupations are chattering and running around getting muddy, are old enough to read his stories and ask, “Bampa, how come?”
