Union Ave Books is excited to present a Poetry Night in celebration of First Fridays, featuring Clint Bowman, Andrew Mack, and Kate Wright! This event will take place on September 6th at 6pm at our bookstore. This is a free event. Please RSVP via the ticket link.
ABOUT THE READERS
Clint Bowman is a writer from Black Mountain, NC. His debut full-length collection of poetry, If Lost, will be published on September 5, 2024, by Loblolly Press. Clint is the cofounder and facilitator of the Dark City Poets Society of the Black Mountain Library. He works full time as a recreation coordinator leading hikes, river cleanups, and other outdoor programs throughout the Swannanoa Valley. More of Clint’s poetry has previously been published by Bottlecap Press, Louisiana Literature, Poetry South, Roanoke Review, and elsewhere.
Andrew Mack is the Founder and Managing Editor of Loblolly Press. His commitment to fostering emerging writers particularly those from marginalized or underrepresented communities drives Loblolly Press's mission to showcase contemporary poetry, short fiction, and novels with a distinctly Southern voice. Andrew has published two collections of his own poetry, Weekend Revival and What the River Was. He lives in Asheville, NC with his partner.
Kate Wright received her BA and MA in English from Penn State University and her MFA in Creative Writing and Environment from Iowa State. She is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Tennessee where she has served as the poetry editor for Grist, a NEXUS Interdisciplinary Conference co-chair, and the John Hurt Fisher community engagement fellow. Kate's poems have appeared in or are forthcoming from The Appalachian Review, The Maine Review, Okay Donkey, Rogue Agent, and elsewhere.
