“The Native Plant Rescue Project: Salvaging Native Plants in a Time
of Rapid Development”
Our Guest Speaker is Ashley Landry,
Founder of the Native Plant Rescue Project (NPRP), which is a
Central Texas-based nonprofit that coordinates plant rescues
prior to construction. She was the 2024 Nancy Benedict Memorial
Award winner and has been featured in Wildflower magazine,
NPAT’s Prairie People, The Austin Chronicle,Vibrante magazine
and on Central Texas Gardener. Ashley is an avid iNaturalist user
and enjoys spending her free time botanizing.
Ashley will be speaking about the history of NPRP as well as
highlighting some of the special native plants rescued
from construction sites around Central Texas. She will also talk
about NPRP’s “groundbreaking” prairie sod translocation effort
earlier this year. Finally, she’ll discuss plant rescue efforts in the
San Marcos and New Braunfels areas, plus ways to help the effort
to save and rehome local native plants. Join us live via
