Attend the first session of our new monthly book club! This event is open to all adults who have an interest in fiction, mythology, and the ancient world. Learn more about the Kelsey Book Club at https://myumi.ch/Drn1Q.This month, we are reading Circe (2018) by Madeleine Miller. A reimagining of Greek mythology through the eyes of the titular witch, Circe is a tale of resilience and self-discovery. Banished by Zeus to a deserted island, Circe hones her magical powers, encounters iconic figures of myth, and grapples with gods and mortals. Ultimately, she must decide whether she belongs with the immortals to whom she was born or the humans she has come to love.
Whether you have read Circe before or it is new for you, join us for an evening of community and conversation led by Brittany Hardy, PhD candidate in the University of Michigan’s Department of Classical Studies.
This event will take place in Room 125 of Newberry Hall; light refreshments will be served. Register for this session at https://forms.gle/XE3wLpWVZnsdSKfB9 by Tuesday, September 3.
