The best of local live music returns to the Windsor Center with Open Mic Nights on Saturday, September 27th and Saturday, October 25th at 7:00 p.m. Admission to these events are by donation (suggested $3.00 per person for ages 6 and up), and all the music is family-friendly. The September Show is sponsored by Waara Law and includes a diverse line-up of performers. Pianist/Composer James F. Dettlaff will open the show followed by two guitarists: one returning artist, Lee Bowman, and one new to the stage, Mike Pokas. The second half of the show includes young pianist, Skyler St. John, a dueling piano set from Kalee Hernandez and Erika Sauter, and a set of great tunes from the sponsor himself - Jon Waara!
"We're doing something a little different for the October show," shared Erika Sauter, Coordinator. "The October Open Mic Night will include a short, 8-minute performance from stand-up comedian, Monica McFawn, followed by several local musicians. The second half of the show will be a 45 minute concert from Golden Era Jazz!" Golden Era Jazz is a band from Ashland, Wisconsin, with lead vocalist, Abby Miller, a former Iron River resident and favorite of the Open Mic crowd.
"I hope our community will turn out to enjoy these fun nights of music," said Sauter. "You're in for a truly entertaining variety show!"
