Join us for our special Guild Meeting featuring Stories from White Spider with journalist, filmmaker, storyteller, and Heard Museum Chief Programming & Engagement Officer, Patty Talahongva. Her Hopi name is “White Spider Girl,” and she is Corn Clan from the villages of Sitstomovi and Walpi on First Mesa.Patty grew up steeped in Hopi religion, culture, food and language. She is also an alumnus of the Phoenix Indian High School where she started her career in journalism. She’s reported for local and national news outlets and most recently produced Alaska’s Vanishing Native Villages, a film for the PBS program FRONTLINE. Talahongva has been a long-time collaborator with the Heard Museum, narrating the self-guided tours of both Home: Native People in the Southwest and Away From Home: American Indian Boarding School Stories.
