Thomas Hart Benton Home & Studio State Historic Site
“A Brush with History: Life and Art in the Benton Home”

Join Missouri State Parks staff for a trip to the Thomas Hart Benton Home & Studio State Historic Site and the Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center. Participants will tour the early twentieth-century home and studio occupied by Benton from 1939 to 1975. Following the tour, participants will be transported to the Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center for a boxed lunch and a hands-on lesson on the art of needle felting.
A bus will depart from the Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center (4750 Troost Ave., KCMO) at 9:45 a.m. and return at 2:45 p.m. Lunch and transportation will be provided.
FREE for seniors who are young at heart. Reservations are required and space is limited, so sign up today! Priority will be given to Seniors to Parks newcomers.

Accessibility Information: The Benton Home is partially ADA accessible. There are 7 steps from the street to the level of the house. If anyone in the group has trouble standing for the length of the tour, we provide folding chairs; and if any are unable to make it to the second floor of the Benton Home, we have a book complete with photos and descriptions of the upstairs rooms or a tablet with a virtual tour for them to enjoy.
