Join EPM Director Sharry Blazier as she takes you on a lively trip to Elgin's past, when early residents George and Mary Lord transformed Elgin with their visionary philanthropy! You'll learn how they created Lords Park, Lords Park Zoo, and the museum that is today Elgin Public Museum -- the oldest museum in the State of Illinois built TO be a museum, and still in operation as one. Light refreshments will be served, and if you've been around Elgin a while, you're encouraged to share your memories of the museum, zoo and park of yore!
So that we know how to plan, we ask that you please sign up here:https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050949A4AD2DA0FF2-59266114-seniors ... or email Sharry at [email protected], or phone the museum Tuesday-Friday between 8 and 2 or Saturday/Sunday 12-4, at (847) 741-6655.
This program is free, donations happily accepted. We promise -- no sales pitches! We just want you to have a good time and we hope you'll be inspired to come back, and bring grandkids and friends.
This is the first of three programs in November, and we may consider more in the future.
