Senior Law Day 2023About this Event
This year’s presenters will cover the basics of estate planning, late marriage and gray divorce, scenarios involving adult children, and housing options as you age. For estate planning, the panelists will discuss the basic estate planning documents you should have in place to cover both the expected and unexpected, including Advance Medical Directives, General Powers of Attorney, and Last Wills and Testaments. For those of you marrying later in life, that panel will discuss some tools for asset protection (especially when there are children from prior relationships), what those tools can protect and when, and considerations for caring for each other financially. They will also discuss the topic of divorcing later in life, and the financial implications of the same.
The panelists discussing adult children will delve into adult children with disabilities, adult children who flew the coop but have returned to nest in your home (and options on getting them to leave the nest again), and adult children who become your caregivers. Speaking of caregivers, the panel covering housing options will discuss the feasibility of aging in place (possibly with those adult children as your caregivers), the different types of housing options for those who need to leave home, and how to plan financially for these options.
Senior Law Day is free and open to the public. Please call 703.836.4414 ext. 110 if you have any questions, or to register.
