Brunch & Learn: Detroit River SturgeonThursday, July 18
9:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M.
During this monthly series for active aging adults, participants will have opportunities to meet our on-site educators, listen to guest presenters and take part in various natural resource-themed activities. All programs begin at 9 a.m. and include pastries, coffee and tea upon entry. At 9:30 a.m., presentations will begin, so sit back and enjoy your snack during an exciting and informative program, then wrap up with time to explore the OAC exhibits.
In July, join us to get up close and personal with a Detroit River “fossil,” the lake sturgeon! We’ll share the unique biology of this ancient fish species, the reasons behind its decline in the Detroit River and what is currently being done to restore this iconic species to our river. Try your hand at fishing along our Detroit River after the program if you'd like. Note that a fishing license is required for anyone 17 years old or older (for more information, contact us or visit Michigan.gov/Fishing).
Cost is $8 per person; payment can be made for groups or individuals. Preregistration is required.
