Meet with us the second Tuesday of every month for a book club just for seniors.Meet to discuss The Song of the Cell: An Exploration of Medicine and the New Human by Siddhartha Mukherjee.
Ever since my first biology class in 7th grade I’ve sought to know more about the human cell, which holds the secret to life. Siddhartha Mukherjee’s The Song of the Cell has provided me with a better explanation than any I could have imagined, in a readable, novelistic style.
Mukherjee weaves together basic cell biology, the history of cell discovery, and his own experience as an oncologist and researcher to explore how the discovery of cells created a new kind of medicine based on the therapeutic abilities of cells.
Books will be available in the Adult Services department. We will obtain as many large print and audio copies as possible. This book club is intended for adults. No registration is required.
