Outdoor games and activities for young people aged 8-19 years with SEND.Have a go at a variety of games and activities with trained coaches. Sessions will be tailored to the needs and interests of participating young people on the day.
Activities may include throwing and catching games, obstacle courses and boccia - a game related to bowls and petanque which tests precision and accuracy. At a Paralympic level the sport is designed for athletes with severe physical disabilities. However, boccia is played and enjoyed by people of all abilities.
This is a free event, but please book your place. Free admission is included with your ticket.
Smile Through Sport is a North East based disability sport charity. It was founded by Paralympian Stephen Miller MBE to provide events, sessions and education to improve the health and wellbeing of people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities throughout the North East of England. They provide a range of services for organisations, individuals and families.
This activity will take place in the activity field at the back of Crook Hall Gardens. Please ask at admissions if you are unsure.
This session is designed for children and young people with SEND. Please note that these sessions will take place on our grassy field, where terrain can be a bit bumpy. There is an approx. 1.5m sloped incline into the field. If you have any questions about accessibility, please email [email protected].
