The chirality plays the very important role in polymer materials. In the past few years, Zhang group’s research focused on precise construction of hierarchical chiral structures in macromolecular system. The achievements with major significance include: 1) developing polymerization-induced chiral self-assembly strategy for precise control over the hierarchical chiral structures in macromolecular system; 2) developing crosslinking structure-directed chiral self-assembly strategy for fixing and self-holding of chirality; and 3) utilizing the chiral evolution from molecular chirality to supramolecular chirality, and then to macroscopic helical chirality based on the control of macroscopic helical chirality by chiral small molecules in polydomain chiral liquid crystalline elastomer and color-tunable polymer CPL materials.
