Exploring how the mission-oriented approach impact future research and innovation – and what it means for you
About this Event

The term Mission Orientation has received increased attention over the last couple of years. Following the work of Marianna Mazzucato, governing and funding bodies across Europe have started to create missions. These missions aim to give innovation and research a direction, to achieve wider goals that are tightly connected to society’s greatest needs and challenges. Potentially, we are looking at a movement with the prospect of becoming the most significant enabler for change over the coming decades. At the same time, setting a direction for research does not come without a dilemma, a dilemma we all need to understand better going forward: How do we give research a direction, while maintaining the principles of free research, and making sure that the important fundamental research is not neglected?

Through this seminar series, the CEO at DDC – Danish Design Center, Christian Bason, along with partners at Mobilize Strategy Consulting, Claus Bjørn Billehøj, and Søren Barlebo Rasmussen, introduce you to leading practitioners in the field of mission orientation. Participants share knowledge and experiences across institutions, and we enable you to utilize this knowledge in your everyday work.

The three seminars are based on three themes: Setting direction, mobilizing ecosystems, and building capacity, with the ambition of taking a practical approach to mission orientation.
