Bad Batch Zine, Door Gallery Cafe and Stone Vault Studio are proud to present the 40th Anniversary celebration of Melbourne’s primordial, punk rock pioneers, Seminal Rats on Saturday 11th May, at Stone Vault Studio - Fyansford Paper Mill.Emerging onto the scene back in 1984, the Seminal Rats were a band influenced at once by Detroit based Rock’n’Roll of the 70’s and the Punk Rock coming from both here and abroad. Raw, fast-paced, driving Rock, filtered through the sunburnt landscape of the suburbs. Their 40 year longevity is testament to their ability to still be able to capture that same energy and immediacy.
Cementing their place in the Oz-Rock pantheon with such classics as their self-titled LP and the ‘Hot Snapper Pie’ EP, The Seminal Rats played a crucial role in shaping the Australian Rock landscape of the 80’s and 90’s. Their straight shooting, no-frills approach gave them a gritty edge that resonated with audiences across the country.
Also on the night, Stepmother, the power trio fronted by Graham Clise (Annihilation Time, Lecherous Gaze, Rot TV, Witch), deliver their unique style of motor-city-proto-punk and Ocean Grove’s Clifford Parade will be dishing up their signature blend of Garage Rock and psychedelic guitar wizardry to kick the night off.
If that wasn’t enough, the one and only Door Gallery Cafè will be on hand, delivering up mouth-watering grub and grog on the night as well. Who doesn’t love dinner and a show?
