This workshop called Self Leadership, explores the qualities that makes us unique, the skills, knowledge and experiences that each of us bring to the roles we play amongst our friends and family, but are also relevant when we study and when we work. We will consider the connection between how we show up in different contexts and the overlaps between them.
One of the core leadership skills that is often underestimated is the ability to handle the emotional impact of work. Leading is not always easy, making the right decision that benefits your team, may not directly benefit you, if you take your role of leader seriously.
In his book “Leaders eat last” Simon Sinek suggests that the reason leaders are given preferential treatment is because the expectation on them is higher; that they will defend the team, that they will lead the way in times of difficulty, that they are able to cope with pressure. All the expectations listed above, and many others are fuelled by and filled with emotions. In this session we will help you to think about who you are and how you think about leadership. For some of you, the idea of being a leader may seem very far away and the words that pop into your mind are “Leader? Who me? No! Or I’m not leader!”
