Safe Harbor’s mission is to be a beacon of hope to people who walk through our doors and to provide a safe place to cultivate relationships, reduce stigmas, and promote recovery in order to thrive in the community. We do this at no cost to adults in Delaware and Morrow Counties through an array of innovative wellness programs offered at two peer support centers.
Peer Support is emotional support that is based on a common experience. In our case, it is support based on common lived experience of mental health and/or addiction challenges. It is not counseling, nor therapy. It is not treatment, nor is it clinical assessment. Mutual relationships are created and nurtured, isolation and stigma are decreased, and a sense of community and self-empowerment are built. You do not need a formal diagnosis to attend or receive services.
Safe Harbor does not offer counseling or other clinical services, but instead offers peer support and other evidence-based programs free-of-charge. Peers can meet individuals who might share similar experiences and could offer insight and support for whatever steps you are taking towards your own recovery. Our outreach centers offer a safe, judgement-free environment, and we serve a free lunch daily. #safeharborhelps
