About this Event
We are pleased to welcome back Dr Jonathan Carnell, who will be giving a talk on vaping, including safety, long-term effects, youth, gateway and addiction patterns. Initially championed as a solution to help tobacco smokers kick the habit, vaping has become a highly debated topic in recent years, not only in terms of social and health implications, but also how the potential hazards of vape use should be addressed from a risk management perspective for protection products. Dr Carnell will welcome questions from claims and underwriting professionals about this topic.
Dr Jonathan Carnell qualified from the University of Wales College of Medicine in 1999. After completing basic surgical training in South East Wales, he moved into vocational training for General Practice, joining one of the largest GP practices in South Wales in 2006. A GP Partner since 2007, he has interests in medicine management and medical education. In 2015 he became a GP trainer, and in 2021 was appointed as a mentor for the Royal College of General Practitioners, offering advice and support to other doctors at various stages of their careers. Dr Carnell has been interested in insurance medicine for a number of years, providing advice and opinion to several UK-based insurers and has found the balance between working within the NHS and insurance industries both interesting and challenging. In 2023, he was made a Fellow of the Royal College of GPs and also accepted a new role as the official RCGP Representative to the UK Insurance Industry.
There will be an opportunity for networking, with refreshments available, after the talk has concluded. We look forward to seeing you at this event and exploring a topic that is sure to generate plenty of discussion!
