SEEN #22: Johann Kööp & Lily DollnerFriday 21 November, 20.00 - 23.00 - free entrance
Investigating discomfort and utter uselessness, Lily and Johann plan to instigate a group effort of hopeless, tragic actions. Commencing a play with size, length, and intensity, the mundane is shoved into the spotlight in most absurd ways.
You are invited to a place where every choice is a questionable one, and where inaction has similarly awkward consequences as participation. How much effort is too much, and how long can we stay together on the cusp of? Advocating for a group approach, there is a chance to find out how to waste our collective time more efficiently, or whether wasting time collectively is wasting time at all.
Johann Kööp is an Estonian visual artist based in London, working mostly with images, carefully studying the misunderstood potential of simple things in life. Lily Dollner (2000, UK/IRL) advocates ‘unproductiveness’ in her work and uses a rational, procedural framework to support absurd and futile performances. In her work, impracticability is embraced over the social constructed binary and utilitarian mentality that infiltrates daily life.
