'seeing through a murky gaze' is an analogue film festival that showcases a collection of art films that are inspired and affected by the sea and the power and potency of rimurimu (seaweed). The films bring together four artists that come from similar positions within the analogue and alternative photographic realm; Hannah Arnold, Chloe Mason, Virginia Woods-Jack and Belinda Whitta. The short art films are all made with analogue photographic techniques to form a hands-on relationship with the place, water and the rimurimu that is within the frame. These magic scenes are realised with sustainable photographic developers, using rimurimu to reveal the images upon the films surface.
Join us as we bask in the potent power of rimurimu, and seep in the inspiration it stirs!
After the film screening the artists will host a panel discussion with time for audience questions!
