Seeds of Change: Planting the Future of Food in Duval
Come join the Duval Food Policy Council at the Conference Center at the Main Library for an exciting event focused on the future of food in Duval!
By enhancing local food systems and supporting local farmers and urban agricultural initiatives, we ensure a fresher, more nutritious supply of produce for all residents, bolster local economic development, and decrease our community's reliance on global supply chains, enhancing resilience and community self-sufficiency.
This year, the summit will feature targeted sessions to address the needs of our most vulnerable populations and enhance community understanding of systemic food issues, including:
● Senior Hunger: Exploring sustainable strategies to meet the nutritional needs of older adults.
● Childhood Nutrition: Tackling the unique nutritional challenges faced by children in Duval County.
● Urban Agriculture: Highlighting innovative urban farmers in Jacksonville and their role in transforming local food landscapes.
● Poverty Simulation: An immersive experience designed to increase empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by those struggling to make ends meet while employed.
The Duval Food Policy Council is committed to fostering a just, sustainable and equitable food system for all!
