SUMMARY:This will be a small group workshop (BEGINNER LEVEL) with plenty of opportunities to ask questions. Be prepared for a hands on experience, where you will learn as we go, step-by-step. You will learn the basics of seed starting as well as how to manage seedlings once they have sprouted. We'll touch on soil science, indoor growing, watering needs, pest/disease management, and other plant care info.
WHAT YOU'LL TAKE HOME:
You will go home with your own seeded plant pots that you sow yourself during the workshop. This includes pots, soil, and seeds. You will be able to choose from a selection of vegetable, flower, and herb seeds. We will also be sending everyone home with some extra seeds to continue sowing at home. Everyone will receive our workshop packet with more detailed information on seeding and plant care as well as a list of resources to explore.
AFTER CARE:
Before signing up, make sure that you will be able to provide the proper "after care" at home for your seedlings following the workshop. You must have a place to store your plants indoors, in the event of severe or below freezing weather. This could be a garage, a heated greenhouse, mud room, etc. Grow lights are not required unless you plan on storing your plants indoors during the day or for multiple days at a time. You will also need to transfer your seedlings into larger pots or into your garden once they have outgrown their original pots. We will provide you with detailed instructions on how to continue seed sowing and plant care at home, and we will be available to answer questions and provide guidance as needed following the workshop.
PAYMENT AND CANCELLATIONS:
Once you are accepted into the workshop, we will send you an invoice, and you will have three days to submit your payment of $40. We will hold your spot during this three day window. Please make sure you will be able to attend before submitting payment, as we will not be issuing refunds for cancellations UNLESS we are able to fill your spot from the waitlist. You are also welcome to send someone in your place, if you run into any last minute issues. Please let us know ASAP if you need to cancel, and we will do our best to fill your spot.
ADDITIONAL INFO:
***This workshop is kid friendly! All children under the age of 15 must have adult supervision. There is no extra charge for children under 5. HOWEVER, any individual who will be taking home their own set of seeded pots will need to register separately to ensure we have enough supplies for everyone.
*** Masks are optional. If you are feeling sick, please do not come to the workshop! If you are unable to attend due to illness, we can facilitate a virtual option and offer you the supplies to participate from home.
***Appropriate attire for this workshop: Work clothes that you don't mind getting dirty! We will be handling soil and sharp tools. Gloves are encouraged. We will have a few pairs of gloves for anyone who does not have their own.
