We’ll gather at this turning point between winter and spring — a date known by many names: St. Brigid’s Day, Imbolc, Snow Moon, and more — to share food, song and hopes for the future.
✨EAT: Two main dishes (one vegan) will be provided. Bring a side dish if you wish, but come even if empty-handed.
✨SING: No experience needed. All songs taught by ear in a judgement-free space.
✨CREATE: Help build a sculpture covered in our collective intentions and prayers (optional activity). We’ll send those prayers up in smoke with a fire, moon song, and collective howl! This activity inspired by the work (pictured) of artist Stephanie Robertson’s exhibit “The Resilience of Hope” at the Harrison Center; check it out through January! https://tinyurl.com/y7sr6csx
✨ BRING THE FAMILY: This is an intergenerational event and all ages are welcome. A corner with comfortable seating is available for kids with quiet activities or family members that just want to hang.
✨ COVID PRECAUTIONS: Singing is a high risk activity for virus transmission anytime and especially in this season. If you are feeling unwell in anyway or have recent exposure, PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND. You are welcome to wear a mask (many do year-round). We'll meet inside in a high-ceiling room for most of the event. The sculpture activity and concluding ritual will be outdoors (weather permitting).
✨ ACCESSIBILITY: Disabled, chronically ill, and neurodivergent folks are very welcome here! The space where we meet is wheelchair and scooter accessible, with no steps and a handicapped parking right outside The Commons (accessible via the alley just east of the church). We will sit while eating, stand/sit for singing (your choice); the activity is largely accessible with volunteers available for support. There are two accessible all gender restrooms. You are welcome to reach out with any questions about accessibility ([email protected]).
