This two-part course teaches Washington dentists safe minimal and moderate sedation protocols. You’ll learn the science of sedation, critical patient assessment criteria, fundamental and advanced sedative administration protocols, 7 key contraindications to conscious sedation, and participate in hands-on medical emergency and airway management training.
Per the WAC 246-817-755 requires a licensed dentist to hold a permit of authorization to administer moderate sedation with enteral agents after successful completion of a minimum of 16 hours of training in minimal sedation, and 21 hours of moderate sedation, which includes medical emergency management, not limited to airway management, conducted in-person with hands-on skill.
**You must complete BOTH parts to earn your Moderate permit.
