About this Event
At the completion of the 8-hour classroom portion of this training, you will have a working knowledge of the responsibilities and legal requirements of carrying a gun while on-duty. Before you leave, we will help you fill out your application, issue you a certificate of completion, and make sure you have zero questions about the application process.
Firearms Qualification
You must complete a qualification within 30 days of the classroom portion. Range & ammo fees are not included in the class ticket.
If you do not have a firearm, we can provide a 9mm or .40 caliber Glock for your qualification for a $10 rental fee. You must use our ammo or the range's ammo when shooting our weapons.
If you shoot your own firearm, it must be inspected by our rangemaster, and you must have at least two magazines.
There are five steps to getting your Firearms Permit:
1. Complete the Exposed Firearms Course
2. Pass the firearms qualification within 30 days of taking the classroom portion
3. Pass the "Firearms Assessment" at a PSI Facility.
4. Submit your application to the State and pay the application fee
5. Get fingerprinted (Livescan) to start your background check
Class Prerequisites:
Be at least 21 years old
Possess a State ID or Driver's License
Have the right to work in California (Check here for the requirements BSIS Forms of ID)
Possess an active Guard Card, Private Investigator, Alarm Agent, or PPO Permit
