The Secret Psychedelica Gemini party not only features producers and DJs born under the third sign of the Zodiac but it also signifies the two year anniversary of the Secret Psychedelica nights finding a home at the DNA Lounge. As things began to open up in June of 2021, Secret Psychedelica was reborn with a Gemini themed parklet party in front of the renown venue. Since then, the monthly psytrance night has been bringing producers and DJs from around the world for your dancing pleasure. This year's Gemini lineup will feature the San Francisco Bay Area debut of Spec and bring back hometown hero Nicolo!
Spec is the psychedelic trance project of Los Angeles based producer John Matthew. John fell in love with the interesting sounds of electronic music at an early age but was also keen to other styles of music. His influences from jazz, classical, and even rap is evident in his uniquely intelligent and groovy styled sets. When it came time to produce, John brought Spec into existence. After releasing two albums, Spec joined up with Shiva Valley Records in 2012 representing the label's energetic full-on psytrance sound. During this time, Spec performed at various parties around the world blasting dance floors and sharing the stage with Ajja, Dickster, Tristan, and many others. Spec now calls Zero1 Music home and has been a part of its growth and establishment on the front-lines of cutting edge music.
Nicolo is a true survivor in every sense. Having been active in the San Francisco Bay Area psytrance scene since the 90s, Nicolo has survived the many evolutions of the local late night party scenes. He has contributed in countless ways for over two decades to help spread the music he loves to like minded fans of psytrance. His hard work as a DJ, a label manager for PsyberTribe Records, deco coordinator, and psytrance party organizer through the years has created a myriad of memorable experiences for many, some even becoming legendary status in the Book of North American Psytrance Lore. On a personal level, Nicolo survived a horrible traffic accident in 2021 that resulted in the loss of his right leg. After months of physical therapy, Nicolo powered right back into being a key component of the local psytrance scene again. He has organized a handful of intimate events and DJs regularly bringing a style that lies on the darker side of the psychedelic spectrum.
Additional Gemini DJs in the psytrance room include Cofun of TranceFamilySF and Radio Om from Site Trance bringing their individual free-spirited sounds of progressive and psychedelic trance. Secret Psychedelica residents Synwrks and Michael Liu will get the night started. The second room this month will be converted to the Geminga Room hosted by Ambient Mafia's very own maestro, Sinukus. An all Gemini lineup consisting of Mo Corleone, Civector, Tugadoom, Ranna, and Sinukus will guide dancers on an adventure through dub, tech-house, techno, and forest.
