As old as the city itself, over the years Mission has been a community of communities: Catholic, Métis, Francophone, Jewish, artistic and medical – and today it’s a little bit of everything! Join Doug Coats for the story of how Father Lacombe’s independent little village across 17th Avenue became one of the most fascinating spots in modern Calgary.
Presented in Partnership with Chinook Country Historical Society, a Chapter of the Historical Society of Alberta. CCHS is dedicated to promoting a greater understanding of Canadian and Alberta history for people of all ages. Organized in 1958 and incorporated in 1993, CCHS covers the region from Olds to Nanton and from the BC border to the Saskatchewan border.
