About this Event
Bruges, the capital of West Flanders was first mentioned in the mid 9th century and is now an Unesco World Heritage Site. Throughout its rich history it has been a busy port, a major Kontor of the Hanseatic League, and a centre for lace making. Many artists and nobles made their home in the city. Since the late 19th century the city has become a major tourist destination, mainly because of its perfectly preserved historic centre, many museums and numerous cafes and restaurants.
We will take a gentle stroll through the many lanes and small streets, crossing numerous canals. Some of the sights include the Minnewater, Beguinage, Vismarkt, Arentshof and the Burg and the Belfrey. We will also take in the off-the-beaten-track areas of Sint-Anna and Sint-Gillis. A city renowned for its beer is also home to a number of wonderful cafes and you will discover where to find the most friendly, romantic and beery cafes in the city - as well as the oldest cafe dating from 1515!
