Join us Saturday, September 13th from 5–9PM during Second Saturday ArtWalk for the opening of “Mellifluous Visual Manifestation” by Paul Barrera, our featured artist for the month of September at Forever Florida Real Estate (2629 Central Ave). Along side new and complementary pieces by our resident artist Wasíl, this show is sure to impress.Paul is an artist, a musician and painter. Born in Bogota, Colombia he and his siblings moved to the US at the age of 4 when his mother remarried. Growing up in Louisiana Paul began sketching and drawing at a very early age. He began painting when he discovered acrylics in middle school and chose that as his favorite medium. Inspiration was drawn from the spirit of the 60’s, the avant garde music from the Beatles, etc., and painters Joan Miro and Peter Max’s colorful and joyful expressions. Paul loves to experiment with different styles, black and white, portraits and colorful abstracts to intrigue and engage the viewer. Paul is a dedicated lifelong student of the arts and the world that he is influenced by, and is always open to new techniques and ideas.
Wasil’s artwork is off the rectilinear frame and reaches out into space as an installation, inviting the viewer into the experience of the encounter, activating a relational quality between the viewer and the work. Biomorphic influences and nature references are used to symbolize authenticity and a sense of origins, aiming to promote deep memory of origins as the sound of the ocean clapping onto the shore. Wasil’s interests resonate beyond just rational, cognitive, response reaction; instead, a visceral psychic level of identification and a sense of connectedness is the primordial pond of his vision.
