About this Event
Seaweed Foraging and Pressing Workshop, CAST, Helston
Join us to learn the craft of seaweed pressing - a Victorian practice that captures the underwater beauty of seaweeds.
During the workshop you will learn to recognise, identify and forage local seaweed species. The cultural history of seaweeds will be discussed, as well it’s agricultural, scientific and ecological uses.
We will prepare a seaweed taster which showcases one of our favourite recipes.
After laying out your designs they will be loaded into our seaweed press where they will dry over the next weeks in our studio. When they are ready we will send you your pressings in the post.
Location : You will be the first group to be hosted in our new studio new in CAST . Our studio is number 14; we will be waiting to meet you downstairs by the entrance to the cafe to direct you to the studio.
