A restful candleit Yoga Nidra practice to mark and celebrate Winter Solstice - the astronomical first day of winter in the Northern Hemisphere, and the shortest day of the year. The winter solstice is the day with the fewest hours of sunlight in the whole year, making it the “shortest day” of the year.It does also mark the beginning of the increase of daylight hours ahead beyond this point. It's a beautiful occasion to mark by turning inward, taking deep rest and to reflect, release and set intentions for the lighter days ahead. On the winter solstice, the sun appears to become still in the sky—the word sol means “sun” and stice means “stillness.” So you are warmly invited to pause and find some stillness too.
This could be the ideal self-care opportunity you are seeking to set you up with some deep rest and inner calm before the busyness of the winter holidays.
I would love to share a restorative Yoga Nidra practice with you on this special evening.
What is Yoga Nidra?
It is a beautiful meditative practice for tranformational and deep rest. Accessible to all - and despite having Yoga in the name there are not physical poses here and all that is needed is the ability to lay down, and the desire to listen and rest.
My sessions are non-religious, culturally neutral, easy to follow and there is no right or wrong way to experience it.
Yoga nidra promotes deep rest and relaxation that isn’t found in your average meditation practice by promoting a slowing down of your brain waves - allowing your mind and body to experience the sweet spot between being awake and asleep and thereby giving the body total relaxation, and restoration: mentally, emotionally, and physically. This is a wonderful practice and can be deeply restorative for the body - one hour of effective Yoga Nidra is said to be as restorative as 3-4hrs of sleep.
We will finish the session with seasonal hot drinks, mince pies, fruit and snacks with the opportunity to chat with likeminded people and optionally reflect on your practice before heading home.
Plenty of parking available a short walk from the room.
Please note that this session is not suitable if you are currently experiencing severe mental health concerns at this time, if you are in doubt please contact me for a chat or consult your GP before booking.
