Once the busy holidays fade, winter can feel tedious. “Why does nature insist on repeating this fallow season?” we wonder. But perhaps the deeper question is why we resist it, year after year. It can be hard to trust that winter offers something essential when its lessons feel uncomfortable. You may notice guilt around rest, boredom masked by unhealthy habits, or a quiet sadness kept hidden even from those closest to you. And yet, when we open ourselves to winter’s reality, unexpected resources can emerge.This half-day retreat invites us into the practice of “wintering,” a concept popularized by Katherine May in Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times. Rather than withdrawing alone, bring your winter self into community and explore the quieter, colder landscapes of the heart. The day includes grounding yoga and breathwork, guided and silent meditation, a sound bath, and time for reflection and sharing. Light snacks, warm teas, and all yoga props are provided.
