Join Museum staff and bring friends on Saturday, January 11 to explore the nature of our region. If where we live shapes how we live, then the Corpus Christi Bay and Gulf of Mexico play a huge role in our lives. What’s in the bay, above the bay, and beside the bay influence our everyday lives more than we might think. Texas Master Naturalists, TAMUCC Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies, UT Marine Sciences Institute, Padre Island National Seashore, and others will “dive in” to the wonder of it all during this family-friendly event. Corpus Christi Museum staff will present dazzling science shows and invite you to participate in great experiments and crafts.
• At 11:00 am, Brad Lomax, founder of the Texas Surf Conservancy, co-founder of Sink Your Shucks, and Texas’s first permitted oyster farmer, will share stories of his trailblazing efforts to stabilize oyster populations for the health of the entire gulf.
• At 1:00 pm, Jace Tunnell, Director of Community Engagement at the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies at TAMU-CC and founder of the Nurdle Patrol Project will invite us to learn more about plastic pollution in our waters, marine science and natural resources, and why we need to protect them.
It’s a DOLLAR-DAY! Admission $1 per person; Free for members, children 2 and younger, and SNAP recipients.
