Come learn about and hear the West African Kora, a 21-string harp that is native to the Mandinka people of Gambia, Senegal, Mali, Guinea and Guinea Bissau. Between songs, audience members will learn about the history of the kora, how it is built, who typically plays it and the types of events it is often utilized at. Sean will engage the audience by asking a variety of questions and will also share some of his personal experiences while studying in Gambia and being hosted by his teachers. The program will conclude with a brief Q&A before the final song.
