Dano is an award-winning Storyteller who grew up in New England, spent 20 years crisscrossing the globe on tall ships, then settled in Seattle, and has spent another 20 years exploring the Pacific Northwest on board yachts, small cruise ships, and research vessels. He’s still running around the Salish sea, plowing furrows in the brine and spinning yarns about his adventures.

Gary Keister:

In the summer of 1948, an eight-year-old boy named Gary Keister from Anacortes, Washington waved goodbye to his mother and his friends and sailed off with his grandfather to the fishing waters of Puget Sound and Alaska on the F/V Veribus.

A writer since he was a young boy, Keister consulted his journals and logbooks for the facts and details that bring back memories of when marine life and commercial fishing was abundant in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Sprinkled with poems and other stories incidental to Keister's many years at sea, the book also contains a sampling of recipes that were often prepared on commercial fishing boats. Cooks from numerous countries, including Italy, Germany, Brazil, Portugal, and Latvia each had their own special cuisine from their home country.

Gary Keister grew up in Anacortes, Washington, at a time when commercial salmon fishing in Puget Sound was at its peak. Each summer while attending grammar school, high school, college, and law school, he fished commercially in Puget Sound and Southeast Alaska. Keister's commercial fishing career ended when the ruptured hull of the Exxon Valdez spilled nearly eleven million gallons of crude oil into the pristine Prince William Sound on March 24, 1989.

Wayne lives on Marrowstone Island in North Puget Sound near Port Townsend, WA. He sailed for over 40 years on Tall Ships around the world. Wayne is a Captain, rigger, sailmaker, and Fisher Poet.

Presently, he runs the Community Boat Project, which teaches high schoolers Boat Building and Seamanship.

Matt Moeller:

Matthew Moeller – Avid sailor, singer, and songwriter, is a third generation descendant of immigrants in the Puget Sound region. Widely known as a folk musician and tall ship sailor, he is retired and lives in Lacey, WA with his wife, the Lovely Lanita, and two cats.

Mike and Val James:

Mike and Val James have performed to a variety of audiences in concerts, festivals, and private venues in the northwest and beyond for over 25 years. They accompany themselves on guitar (s) or enjoy performing with a jazz trio in the Port Townsend area. Their broad musical styles range from the traditional 1940s, through 1980s. Much of their music has “American Songbook”, folk, jazz, maritime, originals, songs for kids, or “bluesy” influences.
