Dr Byrt has studied the mechanisms used by plants to absorb (and purify) water through their roots. This vital process has sparked her patented membrane that mimics plants and can purify water that will revolutionise how we respond to droughts and natural disasters, clean contaminated water in the mining industry, but also how water is purified on the International Space Station. This is your chance to meet an inventor; have a behind the scenes tour of revolutionary science research labs; and conduct your own plant experiments with free resources to take back to your classroom.
