Grab yourself a pint and join soprano Laura Osgood Brown and bass-baritone Keith Brown for a fun evening of sea songs and stories spanning the British Isles to the Great Lakes—including shanties, folk tunes, songs for working, songs for drinking, and songs of love and loss. Fans of Outlander, Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, and local maritime lore might recognize a few numbers. Don’t miss a lively program that is bound to cure what “ales” you.

About the Artists:
Dr. Laura Osgood Brown is an educator, director, and performer who currently teaches voice and opera at the Interlochen Arts Academy and Camp. As a performer, Brown has been the soloist in works such as Handel’s Messiah, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Mozart’s Requiem, and Mendelssohn's Elijah, and premiered the role of Nora in Paul Siskind's The Sailor-Boy and the Falcon with Metropolitan Opera mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe. Passionate about new music, Brown regularly collaborates with composers to perform premieres of new opera, oratorios, and art songs. Brown’s accomplishments include winning second place in the Jesse Kneisel Lieder Competition—judged by Dawn Upshaw—and being selected as a finalist in the Friends of Eastman Opera Company Competition.
Hailed by Opera News for his “warm bass-baritone,” opera singer Keith Brown has performed from Carnegie Hall (in Howard Hanson’s opera Merry Mount) to Italy and Newfoundland in works from Puccini to Sondheim. Brown is a former first-place winner of the American Prize in Vocal Performance and holds degrees in classical voice from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. In addition to his background as an opera singer, Brown is also a professional voiceover artist and audiobook narrator; an instructor of diction and opera history at Interlochen Arts Camp; and the former music host and producer at Interlochen Public Radio.
