Sea and Seasons in aid of RNLITakeNOTES Summer Concert 2024

In their anniversary year, TakeNOTE Chamber Choir is celebrating the RNLI’s immeasurable gift to our communities through lives saved at sea over the last 200 years. Celebrating, and we hope, raising some funds for our vital work.
TakeNOTE’s summer concert in Winchester will feature lots of watery songs. They take us down to the river to pray and sing prayers on the ocean for mariners and those who rescue them. There will be songs of love, separation, tragedy and rescue. But you can get a little wrinkly if you stay in the water all evening, so we’re on land for part of the time with songs that celebrate the seasons. There’ll be a few springtime pieces before Robbie Burns takes us from summer to autumn. And for the last of the seasons, an early English winter ode.
We hope you can join us St Paul’s. It’s a Victorian church with a glorious acoustic. A recent makeover has created modern facilities in an historic building and it has become a popular concert venue in the city.

TakeNOTE is an a cappella choir of 16 singers, based in Hampshire. They perform a wide-ranging repertoire under the direction of Carolyn Robson. Choral arrangements of traditional and contemporary folksong, 'classical' pieces, popular song, gospel. The choir will tackle anything that they enjoy singing and that, we hope, you'll enjoy hearing.
