Scum: The Gorehop Pioneer
Scum has undoubtedly carved a unique niche for himself within the horrorcore scene since the year 2000. His founding of Lyrikal Snuff Productionz, later LSP, LLC, set a platform for many underground acts to shine, facilitating over 125 releases worldwide. His musical style, characterized by dark, ultra-violent, and horror-themed lyrics over less traditional, bouncy, and upbeat instrumentals, marks him as a pioneer of the gorehop sub-genre. With 18 solo albums and 8 group projects under his belt, Scum's productivity is impressive. His projects, like the Mr. Zipperface album series and the Out With The Old double album, showcase his ability to engage his audience with compelling narratives and a unique sound. Scum's extensive touring history, including 26 nationwide tours with numerous headlining acts, speaks to his significant impact on the scene and his ability to maintain a strong, dedicated following over two decades.
Lex the Hexx Master: From NYC to Horrorcore Limelight
Lex the Hexx Master's journey from a New York City rapper inspired by the likes of Nas, 2Pac, and DMX to a significant figure in the horrorcore scene underscores the genre's broad appeal and versatility. His transition to darker lyrics and the adoption of face paint highlight the genre's theatrical aspects, mirroring the paths of artists like Twiztid, Insane Clown Posse, and Blaze Ya Dead Homie. Lex's discovery and subsequent signing to Twiztid's Majik Ninja Entertainment in 2015 mark a pivotal moment in his career, opening up new avenues for his music and persona. His performances, from Twiztid's New Year's Evil 8 show to the Gathering of the Juggalos, and releases like The Black Season EP and his debut LP, Contact, have cemented his place in the horrorcore world.
