
About this Event
Sculptures in the Garden is an annual sculpture exhibition, taking place in the vineyard and gardens of Rosby in Mudgee. The beautiful rural property and lush gardens of Rosby will be transformed into a sculpture park over two weeks, featuring sculptures by established and emerging artists from across Australia.
The 2025 exhibition will run for 16 days, opening on Saturday the 11th of October and closing on Sunday the 26th of October, featuring over 250 sculptures for sale.
Every Day:
- Gates open daily from 10am to 4pm
- Over 250 sculptures and outdoor artworks by local, regional and interstate artists.
- Indulge in delicious food by Mudgee Corner Store every day (all day weekends, 10am - 2.30pm weekdays)
- Explore the Rosby Cellar Door Bar
- Entry: $5.00 per person (Children attend for free)
Each Weekend:
- Sculpture Demonstrations & Childrens sculpture workshops
- Live music by musician Matt Boylan-Smith & friends
Food & coffee will be available for purchase from the Mudgee Corner Store throughout each day of the event. The Rosby Wine bar will be open for the duration serving their much loved wines, and live music will be provided by Matt Boylan-Smith. Whether you’re an art-enthusiast or just looking to spend some time in Mudgee, Sculptures in the Garden is a brilliant day out with something for everyone.
Entry for kids is free! We also have a special kids exhibition showcasing young talent in the region.
Proceeds from the exhibition go towards the Mudgee Support Group of Guide Dogs NSW/ACT and a local arts initiative to create a sculpture walk in Mudgee and public art throughout the Mid-Western region.
PLEASE NOTE: No dogs are allowed at Sculptures in the Garden. Avoid disappointment and leave your dogs at home. Service Dogs accepted.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE PUBLIC
- Disabled parking facilities are available on site. Parking is actively managed due to the rural setting so please talk to a parking attendant on entry and you will be guided to the relevant spaces.
- The event is an all-weather event so visitors should wear appropriate clothing and sun protection.
- The SIG site is on a working, rural property and visitors should take care when walking around the event site, especially in relation to any wildlife that may be encountered.
- All visitors should take care in the proximity of artworks and not touch, climb on or handle the artworks.
- Children under 15 years of age should be accompanied by an adult at all times while attending the event.
- Sculptures in the Garden or Rosby Wines and Guesthouse will not be liable for any injury or loss that may result from attending the event.

Friday October 10 - Opening Night with the Artists
Info: Donate to become a Friend of SIG and gain a ticket to the exclusive opening night preview with exhibiting artists. Attendees will be given the opportunity to purchase sculptures before the event opens to the general public the following day. Proceeds from the evening’s donations will go directly towards the Friends of SIG acquisition prize, which is worth $10,000 for the winning artist. The winning artwork will be added to the Mid-Western Regional Council Public Art Collection and showcased in the captivating outdoor Sculpture Walk at Lawson Park in Mudgee.

Saturday 11th October :: Official Opening of Sculptures in the Garden 2025

Info: The opening event of Sculptures in the Garden is always a momentous occasion for art enthusiasts and the Mudgee community alike. We are delighted that David Handley AM, the visionary behind Sculpture by the Sea, will officially open Sculptures in the Garden and announce the acquisition prizes in October 2025.
With determination and a mere $400 marketing budget in its inaugural year, David transformed Sculpture by the Sea into the world's largest and most beloved annual sculpture exhibition, drawing over 450,000 visitors to the stunning Bondi to Tamarama coastal walk.
David’s remarkable success story, coupled with his commitment to community engagement and corporate social responsibility, promises an enlightening and memorable opening ceremony.

Saturday 11th & Sun 12th October :: BARBARA LICHA – WIRE SCULPTING
Info: Join renowned sculptor Barbara Licha on the first weekend of Sculptures in the Garden as she shares her unique wire sculpting techniques. Working with galvanised wire, mesh, and stainless steel, Barbara creates emotionally charged figures that convey movement, presence and tension. Visitors will have the opportunity to watch her process up close, ask questions, and gain insight into her contemporary art practice and materials. A rare chance to engage with one of Australia's leading wire sculptors in action.

18th & 19th October :: IAN MARR – SANDSTONE CARVING
Info: Ian Marr brings a contemporary sensitivity to the ancient art of stone letter-cutting. Working with slate and sandstone, he hand-carves inscriptions inspired by poetry, literature, and the natural world, often finishing his works with decorative elements and gilding. His practice bridges drawing, painting, and sculpture, creating pieces that invite quiet reflection and sensory connection. Join Ian during Sculptures in the Garden to witness his process firsthand and explore the stories and inspirations behind his beautifully crafted works.

Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th October :: BRIDGET WHITEHEAD – STONE SCULPTING
Info: Appearing on the final weekend of Sculptures in the Garden, Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 October, Bridget Whitehead will demonstrate her meditative and tactile approach to stone sculpting. Working primarily with hand tools — hammer, chisel, and rasp — Bridget’s process is deliberate and physical, allowing the form to emerge gradually from the mass of stone. Her practice is deeply connected to the material itself, celebrating both its permanence and sensitivity. Visitors will have the chance to watch her work in real time and learn how sculpture becomes a language for exploring her relationship with the natural world.

Saturday 11th October :: Kids Workshop – ROCK ART
Info: Join Felicity and Danielle from Mid-Western Regional Council Library’s Children’s Services for a fun, music-themed Rock Art session. Kids will create their own colourful and creative artworks on stone, inspired by rhythm, lyrics, and musical imagination. A great hands-on activity for little artists at Sculptures in the Garden.

Sunday 18th October :: Kids Workshop – MUSIC JAM
Info: Get ready to make some noise! Join students from Mudgee High School for a lively Music Jam, inspired by the creative energy of our Kids Sculptures. Everyone is invited to join in — bring your rhythm, your voice, or just your enthusiasm for a fun, interactive musical session in the garden.

Sunday 19th October :: GUIDE DOG PUPPIES
Info: Sculptures in the Garden is once again proud to welcome some very special guests — guide dog puppies in training — thanks to our long-standing partnership with the Mudgee Support Group for Guide Dogs NSW/ACT.
Since SIG began in 2010, this partnership has helped raise over $200,000, directly supporting vital services including the development of a kennel and play equipment at the Guide Dogs’ Glossodia training facility. These contributions play an essential role in preparing pups for their future as life-changing companions.

Saturday 25th October :: Kids Workshop – MUSICAL STATUES
Info: Join Michelle from Redbank Studio for a playful and creative Musical Statues workshop. Inspired by the classic game, kids will sculpt their own “frozen” poses using a mix of materials. What shape will your musical moment take — and what position will stick with you? A fun, imaginative activity to wrap up SIG for Kids 2025.
