About this Event
One weekend every month, you can now join Harriet at Planthood, a beautiful green space in Amsterdam-West, to create sculptures inspired by the natural world. Over two 3hr sessions you will build and decorate sculptural pieces inspired by a one-off themed centerpiece, celebrating our plant (and fungi) kin. No previous experience necessary.
The first February edition is themed around Sappho’s flowers, celebrating poetry, flowers, and queer love.
Saturday February 25th 15.00-18.00 and Sunday February 26th 15.00-18.00
We will utilise a mixture of handbuilding and decorating techniques to create sculptures, exploring realistic and abstract representations. At the end of the Sunday session you will decide whether to fire your creations or destroy them. Firing costs an additional 15 euros to be paid at the end of the session, and delivery will be arranged within approximately 3 weeks. Pots will be bisque fired, not glazed* and we will email you to arrange delivery.
No previous experience required, basic ceramic handbuilding techniques will be demonstrated and advice offered as needed. All materials will be provided but please bring an apron or clothes that you don't mind getting some clay on (just in case)!
To increase accessibility and because everyone deserves time for creative play, a limited number of pay-what-you-can tickets are available. Please email [email protected] to check availability.
*If you want to glaze your pot we can recommend local studios where this is possible.
