About this Event
Join DC Commission on Arts and Humanities, artist Chris Soteri Tousimis, along with local Shaw community members to officially reveal the sculpture installed inside Cooper Gordon Park named:
"Let Us Lift Each Other Up: A Tribute to Margaret Cooper and Lillian Gordon".
The artist hopes the sculpture will act to give a focal point and a sense of community pride to Cooper Gordon Park. He also hopes the sculpture will draw attention and interest to the two women and community leaders the park is named after.
The design elements and polished finish of the sculpture will allow local community members to see it differently each time they look at the sculpture. It will look differently with every angle it is viewed from and with changing light conditions. Each moment of the day as well as changing seasons will create a different effect on the sculpture surface. The always changing visual experience of the sculpture will hopefully give the neighborhood and commuters more ways to keep engaged and interact with the sculpture and the surrounding Cooper Gordon Park.
This event will begin at 11 AM. Warm Drinks will be served.
