Sculpting the Human & Animal Portrait in Non-Drying Clay with Regina Doi

With instructor guidance, students will construct simple armatures and use their hands and tools to form the likeness and personality of their subject – human/animal head or animal figure– in non-drying, non-fireable clay. Instruction emphasis is on proportions and expressions to capture the essence of the subject. Mold making and plaster casting of the completed clay portrait will be addressed in the next course series, “Mold Making”. All levels of sculpting experience are welcome! Participants should bring a few photos of their subject from different angles for reference.
