The film will start at 6.00 p.m. in LT1 on the University Campus, Msida.
🎬 The story takes place in post war Rome, in May 1946. Italian families are struggling with the afterwar poverty, the country is waiting to choose between remaining a monarchy or becoming a republic and to vote for the election of the Constituent Assembly. Women are voting for the very first time. In this movie, we follow the everyday life of Delia, a working-class woman, mother of three children and wife of Ivano. Her life is not easy .Between many jobs to earn some money, she faces the physical and verbal abuse of her husband and strives to give her daughter a better future. The movie shows a reality that seems far away from us, but as we all know systemic violence against women is still present in many different shapes.
This activity is being organised to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women which falls on the 25th November. The Screening will be followed by an open discussion introduced by Professor Marceline Naudi.
