About this Event
We’re honored to be able to host a private home screening of All That’s Left of You, the latest film by acclaimed Director Cherien Dabis. The film has been met with widespread praise, premiering at the Sundance Film Festival, and winning the Audience Award and the Golden Gate Award for Best Narrative Feature at the San Francisco International Film Festival. It also won the GIO Audience Award for Best International Feature at the Sydney Film Festival.
Cherien, known for her groundbreaking work on Mo (Netflix), Only Murders in the Building (Hulu), and her award-winning films Amreeka and May in the Summer, will be present for the screening and a conversation about the film. Note that Cherien both Directed and stars in this film. Set in Palestine in 1948, this historical fiction film is a deeply personal exploration of intergenerational trauma and the enduring impact of the Palestinian Nakba ("catastrophe" in Arabic) on memory, identity, and family. It is truly remarkable to get to share this film in Serenbe, as we add our small town to the list of iconic places that have screened the film, including Shanghai, Galway, San Francisco, Sydney, and London. We hope you’ll join us for this intimate evening of film, storytelling, and reflection.
The event will be outdoors and we will begin with a conversation with filmmaker, Cherien Dabis, followed by the screening.
Please bring your own outdoor folding chair and snacks, if desired.
Address will be provided prior to the event.
Note that this film depicts violence and has subtitles. Each family should make a decision on if they want to share this film with their children, but I would not recommend this film for anyone under the age of 12 (or maybe even 14).
