About this Event
*Tickets are free with the possibility of a suggested donation of five pounds - any funds in excess of the cost of the event will be donated to Palestinian Medical Aid, UK Charity*
Screening: No Other Land
“No Other Land,” which won the Oscar this year for best documentary, chronicles the struggle by residents of the Masafer Yatta area to stop the Israeli military from demolishing their villages. Co-directed by four Palestinian and Israeli activists: Basel Adra, Hamdan Ballal, Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, the film features a powerful view of destruction in the West Bank and the unlikely friendship between a Palestinian filmmaker and an Israeli journalist.
Why should we watch now?
On March 24th, co-director of No Other Land, Hamadan Ball, was attacked by armed settlers, arrested by the Israeli army, and beaten while held in detention. He was thankfully released on March 25th. Now more than ever it’s important that his work gets out.
What are the ticket details for the event?
I am encouraging folks to commit 5 pounds to attend the event, but the purpose is to get the highest attendance possible 💪 and so please do not let that encouraged donation keep you from the event. We are fully prepared to take a loss on the event and see it as our contribution to the urgent need to spread the work of persecuted artists on the front lines of violence. The donation will go towards the cost of the event, and any excess funds will be donated to Medical Aid for Palestinians, a UK based charity, reg number 3038352
