Screening Documentary:
Join us for a special screening of the award-winning documentary SPACE, HOPE & CHARITY at the Digital Media Center at LSU!
This moving film tells the story of Dr. Charity Woodrum, a young woman from rural Oregon whose dream of becoming an astrophysicist is nearly derailed by unimaginable tragedy. Raised in poverty and the first in her family to graduate from high school, Charity returned to school in her mid-20s to study physics while expecting her first child. Just as her life felt complete, she experienced what she calls โThe Worst Day,โ a loss that shattered her world.
With the support of friends, mentors, and her own unyielding determination, Charity finds her way back to the distant galaxies where she feels most at peace. Reclaiming her passion for science and rediscovering hope along the way.
Following the screening, a public Q&A session will offer the opportunity to engage in person with Dr. Charity Woodrum and the film director Sandy Cummings to discuss the filmโs themes of resilience, loss, and the pursuit of dreams among the stars.
