Screening and discussion in the presence of PHØNIX16 director Timo Kreuser. FROM THE 84 DAYS is a musical documentary by Philipp Hartmann. In 2020, 25 young musicians from the Bolivian Experimental Orchestra for Indigenous Instruments (OEIN) went to Germany, and due to the coronavirus pandemic their concerts were canceled. Then Bolivia shut its borders and the musicians were stuck in isolation at the Music Academy of Rheinsberg/Brandenburg for almost 3 months.
Together with their German colleagues of the ensembles PHØNIX16 and noiserkroiser, they faced the crisis by developing several musical projects, using majoritively improvisations in contemporary music.
By leaving the stage mainly to the musicians and their performance, the camera becomes part of the improvisation, also opening up the question of how music can be filmed.
FROM THE 84 DAYS is a film about music as a form of communication in a state of exception.
