Historic Mesquite is hosting a screening of the documentary, Cowboys of Color; A Multicultural Legacy Volume 1, which covers the long and important contributions of black cowboys from history to the future.Cowboys of Color won Best Short Documentary- Texas Black Film Festival (2014), Best Texas Film- Texas Film Festival (2014), and Documentary Short Award- Roxbury International Film Festival (2014), as well as being added to the Dallas Public Library's Texas/Dallas History & Archives Division.
The film was directed by Coy Poitier, co-directed by Jacolby Percy, and executive produced by Katrina T. Poitier.
After the screening, there will be a Q&A with Coy Poitier.
