About this Event
Following the screening, there will be a Q&A session with Waad, Fadi, Fuad, and Safa. Each of them bringing a unique perspective on the film’s themes and our journey in telling these stories. Death Without Mercy icaptures the harrowing stories of survivors from the devastating earthquake in Syria and Turkey. At its core are Fuad Sayedissa and his wife, Safa, both of whom endured unimaginable tragedy.
Fuad, through his activist work, has long understood the importance of documenting these events, and his footage, along with Safa’s voice notes recorded while trapped under rubble, forms the backbone of the film.
Their story reflects both the personal toll of the earthquake and the extraordinary resilience of individuals facing such devastation.
Another key figure in the film is Fadi Alhalabi, known for his work as the cinematographer on The White Helmets and Last Men in Aleppo. Fadi’s life took a tragic turn when he lost family members in the earthquake, shifting him from behind the camera to in front of it, capturing his personal loss. His strength in continuing the film’s work despite his own tragedy serves as a powerful tribute to his family and to all those who endure.
